An open water SCUBA course is a foundational step to a marine sciencetists’ career. Our comprehensive SCUBA certification course features classroom instruction, pool training and open water dives at Catalina Island, offered at zero cost for aspiring marine scientists. The program runs over two weekends in August (7-16 and 24-26), applications opening Spring 2026 & cohort selection will be announced May 31st 2026.

An intensive AAUS-aligned workforce development program offering three certifications: Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Specialized Scientific Diving Training. Applications close February 27th, with onboarding in April, water training (Advanced/Rescue) in May, and the full SciDive course in June-July. The program totals approximately 100 hours and is free for divers pursuing careers in marine science.
